Showreel 2010!



We had a request for a showreel and seeing as we probably won't be finishing any new animations until 2011, we threw this together to see what all of our work looks like jumbled up.

ある所からの上映リクエストがあったので、最新作のBLESSも含めた2010年秋冬バージョンのショウリールを制作しました。
今回は新しい試みで、各アニメーションを混ぜたスタイルにしてみました。音楽はRec.tangleです！

BLESS has been selected for this year's DOTMOV festival!  We are very honored to be picked up again, this time by Ian Anderson of The Designer's Republic, who even wrote a bit about the work:


"When the democratisation of technology means that the means of creative production is lead by technology not creativity it's refreshing to see moving art which moves you, engages the viewer, tells a story. I was hoping for something like this, something that expanded and communicated a concept rather than just being one."


「BLESS」が、SHIFT主催のDOTMOVフェスティバル2010の最終作品に選出されました！2008年の選出に続いて２度目です。

そして今回はなんとゲスト審査員の一人、デザイナーズリパブリックのイアン・アンダーソンによりピックアップされ、コメントも頂いてます〜〜！すごい！


"クリエイティブな制作の手段が、クリエティビティではなくテクノロジーによるものであるということをテクノロジーの一般化が意味するとき、感情を揺さぶり、鑑賞者を魅了し、ストーリーを語るような動きのあるアートを見るのはワクワクする。この作品を見て、何かそういうような、ただそれだけとしてあるのではなく、何かコンセプトを広げコミュニケートしていけるようなものを思いました。

今年集まった作品総数は、世界26カ国から237作品。
11月より全11作品で国内外15ヶ所以上（予定）をツアー上映で回ります。

We never mentioned this here, but during the Summer we were in an IdN book, The New Twenties, a collaboration between IdN and Society6, where we have some of our work up.  There are a lot of really amazing folks in the book and we were fortunate enough to be invited to the party.

Also, on the topic of Society6, we recently made some the work we did for our Summer exhibitions in Japan available as prints on the site.  These are ink and watercolor portraits of the Dreamers, the researchers who study the movements and messages of the MoonHare.

Society6のOvertureアカウントでは、夏の旅で展示した作品の中からいくつかをプリント購入できる様になりました。

This is really only pertinent if you can read Japanese, but the wonderful Japanese site, Public-Image, which focuses on artists, designers and other creators just put up an interview they did with us!
It's the top story and really a very nice interview, performed and written up by the talented and extremely prolific Yuki Harada during our Summer trip to Japan.  They actually wrote a bit about us in 2007 when Rhubarbidoo came out, but this is our first interview for the magazine.
The interview is very detailed concerning Overture's beginnings and goals and we are extremely grateful to have this opportunity!  We hope this helps us find more work in Japan and possible exhibitions as well!

今回の夏の日本ツアーの合間にインタビュアーの原田優輝さんに会ってお話しした、二人の出会いや創作活動の事、これからの事についてです。
Public-imageでは、2007年11月にmumのミュージックビデオをリリースした頃に過去のアニメーション作品と合わせて掲載していただいた事がありました。
あれから３年たったんですね〜。。

Our site has undergone some changes!  It's not spectacularly more efficient or snappier, but it is more informative!  There are pages for most of our animations and illustration projects, including those for the MoonHare and Dreamer illustrations we created for the exhibitions we had in Japan this Summer.
In general, the space is now more useful!

秋の感覚/ Autumnal Ruminations

マサチューセッツに戻ってきて２週間がすぎました。
もう涼しくなったこの場所で過ごしていると、あの暑かった日本での旅の全てがもう何ヶ月も前の事の様に感じます。ついこの前なのに！
空港に着いた日から毎日雨が降り続けてましたが、VimeoフェスティバルのためにNYCに行く日になって急に晴れわたり、最高の秋の天気になりました。
最近はイベントや展示関連の書き込みばかりだったので、本当に久しぶりですがここでの生活で秋を感じるいくつかの光景を紹介しようと思います。

We'll be writing about our trip to the Vimeo Festival in a bit but we wanted to write about our return to the States a little first!  We've been back for over two weeks now and have been really digging deep into the season as we try and figure out what our next move is.  Seems at the moment we're going to be in the Western Mass. area here for a while longer - unless something comes calling us to distant lands.

近所の地元レストラン・デニーズ（大手のファミレスとは別物）にてクラムチャウダーを頂きました。今年の秋はいろんなクラムチャウダーの食べ比べをしてみようと考え中。隣のオイスタークラッカーは、隣のバーモント州で作っているものです。

For starters we've been making the rounds to our favorite local eateries testing out their clam chowders.  We really like clam chowder and there seems to be a wide variety out there.  The two most popular types seems to be a simple, but thick and creamy (classic?) version and a thinner version full of herbs and spices.  Both types have their merits!


ほんの少し晴れてる間を狙って、秋恒例のリンゴ狩りです。
降り続けた雨のため、たくさんのリンゴが地面に落ちてました。枝に残ったリンゴを探してなんとか紙袋二袋分取れました。とった日から毎日リンゴ食べてます♪

And of course it wouldn't be Fall if we didn't head up for some apple picking.  After two and a half months of $2 apples in Japan this is pretty much the best thing that could happen to us.  Plus the place we always go is so great with a beautiful view and lots of big, healthy trees I can climb up (even though we're not supposed to).

ここではバスケットを借りてそこにリンゴを入れ、何個の紙袋（＆どの品種か）によって払う値段が決まります。私達はマッキントッシュという品種で紙袋ひとつ16ドル（だったと思う）でした。



そしてまた別の日、今度はバーモント州の森の中にある山小屋に越したばかりの友達を訪ねていきました。
このカップルと出会ったときから始まった秋の恒例行事、ハロウィーンのためのカボチャ彫りも今年で４年目！今回は白いカボチャと細長いオレンジカボチャを使って１組で１つずつ彫りました。
上の写真は私達のカボチャ、名前はフラン（男の子）です。
生地から手作りのピザもごちそうになり、私達はリンゴ狩りでとったリンゴを使ったケーキを持参して、お腹いっぱいの楽しい時間を過ごしました。



山小屋の外で切り株に腰掛けてカボチャを彫りました。
写真に映ってるのは友達カップルの彫ったオレンジカボチャ、名前はトニー（女の子）だそうです。

And another Autumn tradition (for the past four years!) is carving pumpkins with our friends Ryan and Emily who live up in Vermont.  
This year the carving was held up in the mountains of Westminster at a lovely litte cabin.


まだまだ山ほどあるリンゴ、別の日には夏に裏庭で収穫して冷凍しておいたブルーベリーとざく切りのリンゴをたっぷり入れたパウンドケーキを作りました。
これも美味しかった！旬の食べ物（ブルーベリーは違うけど…）をつかうとなんでも美味しい！

Screening at VFA!



We will be in New York tomorrow and Saturday for the Vimeo Festival and Awards. Our animation, BLESS, nominated for an award with nineteen other videos in the Music Video category but ultimately cut out of the final five, is still screening at the festival.
It will be a part of the "Altered States" screening taking place on Friday at the SVA Theatre.


明日から、Vimeo フェスティバル＆アワード（10/8 & 9）に出席のためニューヨークに向かいます。
ニューヨークは約半年ぶり！町を巡りつつ、いくつかのワークショップや上映プログラムに参加したり、人に会ったりしようと思います。

そして、賞は逃しましたが「BLESS」がVimeoフェスティバルのオフィシャルセレクションに入り、会場で上映される事になりましたー！

上映されるプログラムは、８日の２時から３時半にSVAシアター（スクールオブビジュアルアーツのシアター）で行われる「Altered States」です。　
会場に行く事ができて（普段は遠くて行けない事が多いので）、さらにあんな大きなお祭りで作品が上映される事が決まり、嬉しい限りです。

日が経つに連れてだんだんとVimeoで6500作品から選ばれてノミネートされた事のすごさがわかってきたような気がします…。会場でたくさんの人、フィルムに出会える事、楽しみにしています。

Vimeo Awards Nomination!

A little late in posting this, but BLESS has been nominated for the Vimeo Awards in the music video category! There are currently 19 other nominated artists in the category but this will be whittled down to 5 today (9/21!), according to the website.
So we're biting our nails a bit, but either way it's a great honor to be nominated alongside so many talented folks!

We've also been invited down to attend the workshops and ceremonies they have going on during the festival (10/8 & 10/9), so regardless of today's results we'll be in the city that weekend!

Twitterアカウントでは流してましたが、ここではまだでした。

アニメーション「BLESS」が、Vimeoの主催する第一回Vimeoアワードのミュージックビデオ部門にノミネートされました！


6500作品の中から、９カテゴリ×２０組がノミネート作品として選ばれ（今ここです）、さらに５組のファイナリストが9/21（今日ですー！）にサイト上で発表されるそうです。

他のノミネート作品は、どれも今年いろんな所の映画祭で見たり＆すでに選ばれて賞をもらったりしてる方々…でもその中でリストの一番手で頑張ってます。
数時間内に結果が出るとは思うんですが、もう寝なくては…！（発表は米時間に合わせてるのでまだ出ていません／夜１２時現在）もしくは寝ないで結果が出るまで頑張るか…。

今回は会場がニューヨークと近いので、開催期間中の10/8 ＆ 9は私達も会場に行くつもりです！ワークショップを受けたり、（結果はどうあれ）セレモニーに顔を出したりするつもりです！楽しみ！！

※５組の最終選考には選ばれませんでした…残念！
でも、アワードとは関係なくVimeoフェスティバル内のプログラムで「BLESS」が上映されるかも…！これがほんとなら、初めて自分たちの映像が映画祭のスクリーンで上映される所を見る事になります！（今までは遠すぎていつも見に行けなかったので）
また決まったらお知らせします。


Green Design Festival

BLESS is getting a Greek premiere! A little while ago we were asked to include it in the Green Design Festival in Athens taking place from September 23rd to October 10th. Needless to say we were grateful for the consideration and eager to comply!
The Green Design Festival looks to be a very big event sponsored by the city of Athens and Hellenic Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate change. It will look at the relationship between design and the environment and how to improve it. Sounds pretty great! I wish we could go, but being a part of it at least makes us happy.

「BLESS」のギリシャプレミアになる上映が決まりました！

ギリシャの首都アテネで9/23から10/10まで開催されるGreen Design Festivalの中のスクリーニング、GREEN SCREENINGS内で上映されます。キュレーターはUKのキュレーションエージェンシーDouble Decker。

このフェスティバルは、映像／ファッション／インダストリアルデザイン／ガーデニング／建築など、幅広い範囲で”デザインー都市ー環境”について考えることのできる作品＆プロダクトを紹介するようです。
このようなお祭りに作品が選ばれる事、ある部分で関連があると感じてもらっている事、嬉しいです。

ギリシャ！行きたかったですね〜。

Storytellers Reflections

A couple days have passed since our Storytellers at STONE. Our exhibition has also finished and we are busy preparing for the future until our time in Japan is up, mostly trying to figure out how to fit all of these meetings in before we leave.
Though only a week the exhibition at STONE proved to be the most successful yet, especially in terms of traffic. As the Kichijoji location is a ways from where we have been staying we originally only planned on visiting the gallery a few times during the week, but the first day of the show so many people came we realized we needed to be there every day.
The exhibition finished with Storytellers on Sunday which also turned out to be the most successful so far, with a full house, a wonderful lineup of musicians and an incredible Storytellers performance made possible by the collaboration of Toyama Takeo.
Toyama wrote new pieces or altered existing pieces specifically for each part of the story we had written, drawing the audience into the Storytellers world more than ever before.
There were no worries the performances would be anything less than amazing, but when we started the evening, opening the doors and once again inviting audience members to make masks with us, some folks were concerned people wouldn't be drawn into the mood of the evening. But by the time Toyama's set finished and he played Aya onto the stage the whole of Kichimu was enveloped in the Storytellers world.
It was truly a magical night.
We are extremely grateful to Toyama Takeo, Cotoribijutsukan, Sheeprint, Shinsan, all folks connected with Kichimu and everyone who came out for the event. We look forward to our next exhibition at STONE and the next opportunity to perform Storytellers or the next level of this kind performance with Toyama.

12日のStorytellers in キチムの夢のような夜からもう数日たってしまいました…そしてSTONEでの個展「Moon Hare」も展示期間を終え、これで今回の日本滞在中の全てのイベント＆展示が（一応）終了です〜！

日本にいる期間もあと２週間…ここからは、今までゆっくり会えなかった人達にどんどん会っていきます。会いまくり、話しまくります！…とその前に、吉祥寺での事を少し振り返ってみたいなと思います。

STONEでの個展は、１週間という短い展示期間にもかかわらず多くの人、それも興味を持って見に来てくれた方達をお迎えする事ができました！そして未来につながるようなとっても素敵な方達とも知り合う事ができて、本当に大収穫でした。
始まる前は、土日＋平日にも何日かは顔を出しておきたいな…というくらいの考えでいたのですが、結局毎日ギャラリーに来て接客してました。それくらい濃い日々だったのです。

吉祥寺は私達が初めて一緒に暮らし始めた町。このなじみのある場所で展示ができた事、本当に嬉しく思っています。呼ばれてるような気もするような…また住みたい〜！

この展示の最終日、12日の夜に開催されたイベント”Storytellers”は魔法がかかったような時間でした。共演の小鳥美術館さん（名古屋から来てくださいました）とOneiric Caravanを一緒に回ってきたSheeprintさん、そして今回一緒にStorytellersをやってくださったトウヤマタケオさん！

３組の音楽が、キチムに詰めかけたたくさんのお客さんを物語の世界の奥にゆっくりと誘導していくような様子が見えるようでした。
トウヤマさんは私達の作った３つの物語に合う曲を選んで、時には少しだけ変更を加えて絶妙のタイミングで演奏してくれ、それを聞いたお客さんも本当に集中して聞いてくれて、途中からはまるで誰もいない場所で物語を読んでいるような不思議な感覚に陥るほどでした。

ステージから見ていても、マスクを着けたたくさんの人が目をつぶって物語に集中して聞いていて、そして隣を見るとトウヤマさんが一番近くでピアノ演奏をしているという夢のようなシチュエーションで…すばらしかったです。
このような形式の演目を、そしてもっと広げたものを、トウヤマさんとまたやりたい！いつかできる日のためにまた精進します。

マスクを作ってくれて、あの場所で楽しんでくれた全ての人達にありがとうを！
ギャラリーのシンさん、郁子さんと奈々さん、手伝ってくださったスタッフの皆さん、共演者のみなさん、本当に素敵な夜をありがとう！

次のstorytellers、そして次にまたキチムで何かできる事、楽しみにしています。

FOUNDLAND Reflections

For most of the evening last night we had our heads down, sweating over patterns and creatures and constellations trying to get our weaving ideas out of us before songs wrapped up and sets finished. In the three hours that was FOUNDLAND we experienced the six years of our time together as Overture, sharing one little space exposed to a full house.

The musical acts, Predawn, DJ Codomo, Tenniscoats and Tsujiko Noriko were all amazing, each bringing their own different expressions and flavors to the event and offering us fresh inspiration for every new piece we worked on.

As we had done a number of times on our Oneiric Caravan tour with Sheeprint, we drew in response to each song played by the musicians, although this time on a much grander scale. Instead of one band/artist, there were four, so for each one we prepared a watercolor piece that we felt would match their sound. On top of that each piece could be cut up and placed together to form one large illustration/collage at the end of the night. And on top of that we weren't just drawing and projecting the image on a screen behind the artist, but the amazing DJ Codomo (and Yasuko, a member from the VJ set, OnnaCodomo), to whose talent we are eternally indebted, mixed our images with clever and beautiful live techniques, keeping what we were doing fresh and interesting to the audience.

It was truly an evening we will not forget and we are deeply grateful to everyone who came, the artists who played with us, the organizers and producers (flau & VACANT) and DJ Codomo!

This will surely be the beginning of new and interesting happenings...


昨夜の原宿VACANTでのflau & VACANT主催イベント「FOUNDLAND」に来ていただいたみなさん、そして共演者（Predawnさん、 DJ Codomoさん、 Tenniscoatsさん、Tsujiko Norikoさん、そしてDJ ausさん）スタッフの皆さん、本当にありがとうございました！

今まで何日か通して壁面に描いたり、今回のOneiric Caravan tourでSheeprintとやったような30~40分の演奏に合わせて、という事はありましたが、４組のアーティストと共に３時間を超える長さで通して描いたのは今までの最長記録です！

描いている絵からOvertureの６年間の足取りが見えてくるようでした。もう何も残っていない、という所まで出し切る事ができました。

そして、一緒のテーブルを半分に分けあって最初から最後まで映像につきあってくださったDJ Codomoさん＆助っ人のOnnaCodomoヤスコさん！めくるめくおもしろテクニックを沢山見せていただいて、そしてコラボさせてもらってもう感謝感謝です！


今回のイベントでは、４組のアーティストさん達それぞれに違うタイプのライブドローイングを描いていき、最後にそれが一つの風景になるようなものを考えてみました。

テニスコーツさんは二つの島。

そしてツジコノリコさんは星空。


最後に全てをひとつに合体させて、今回のイベントタイトルでもある作品「FOUNDLAND」が完成！

フライヤーのイラストレーションを発展させた風景を、イベント内の３時間で作り上げる、というチャレンジでした。

このような事、もっとやっていきたい…とても楽しかったです。もちろん疲れましたが！

これがまた次の新たな何かに変化して行く事を期待して…


MoonHare, VACANT

Getting into Tokyo at 9 AM on Monday morning after a 10 hour car ride from Wakayama, we quickly readied our artwork and related goods and headed down to Harajuku to set up our MoonHare exhibition at VACANT!
The show is now two days in and we are putting together the pieces for the live drawing we'll be doing at FoundLand on Saturday night with Tsujiko Noriko, Tenniscoats, Predawn and DJ Codomo, upstairs from the gallery.

A lot of wonderful people have stopped by the gallery and it's been great meeting them. In addition to the new MoonHare work we also have the original artwork for AZUL, Our Map to the Monster Olympics, KASINO A4 and other publications/albums, some samples of our animation process, with flippable scenes from the Vimeo animation and part of the storyboard from something we are currently working on.
Most of the artwork we have displayed is for sale and we also have a number of related goods available, such as the BLESS mountain pendants we made, AZUL records, shirts and bags, including the Oneiric Caravan tshirt we designed for our tour with Sheeprint!

原宿VACANTでの展示「MOON HARE」が8/31からスタートしています！
和歌山公演の終了後すぐに車に乗って約10時間、もう一度東京に戻ってきました。朝方に見た富士山、美しかったー…都内についてすぐに展示準備となかなかハードでしたが、無事終了。展示は二日目に入っています。

今現在は、土曜の夜にVACANT2Fで開催されるイベント、FoundLand（ツジコノリコ・Tenniscoats・Predawn・ DJ Codomoさんらが出演します！）の準備中です。とっても面白い事が起こりそうです〜！

会場では、展示タイトルでもある”Moon Hare”に関する新作イラストレーションはもちろん、今までのアニメーションから数点を上映、レコードAZUL, KiraKiraのCDOur Map to the Monster Olympics, フィンランドのアートマガジンKASINO A4などの為に制作された作品のオリジナルや、動画サイトVimeoの30秒CMのアニメーション制作に使われた原画、そして現在制作中の新作ミュージックビデオの絵コンテなどを見てもらえるようになっています。

オリジナルの販売や、グッズもたくさんではないですがそれぞれ限定数で販売しています！

Oneiric Caravan in Tokyo!

Tonight is our last night in Kyoto. Tomorrow we leave for Nara and then Wakayama on Sunday. The first of our two exhibitions then starts next week, wrapping up on Saturday with FoundLand.
But right now we wanted to talk about the week following next, concerning the exhibition at Stone in Kichijoji and the event that wraps up that week on the 12th.
While FoundLand at Vacant is its own event, what we will be doing at Stone on the 12th is actually part of Oneiric Caravan with Sheeprint playing and us performing Storytellers and inviting folks who come to makes masks with us. The difference this time though, is that instead performing Storytellers with Sheeprint we will be joined by the amazing Toyama Takeo!
We have enjoyed Toyama Takeo's music for many years now and getting a chance to perform with him, especially in this unique form, is really a wonderful opportunity. He will of course be playing his own set, as will Sheeprint and Cotoribijustukan who joined us in Nagoya (and are great), but he will also be playing music while we read the storytelling portions of the Storytellers performance. We are incredibly excited.
The whole evening looks to be coming together just nicely and we sincerely hope folks reading this living in Tokyo or nearby areas (or have friends who do) to come out as this will be a very special performance.

数日滞在した京都も今夜で最後です…またすぐに戻ってきたいな…。
そんな気持ちに浸る間もなく、明日はキャラバン再開です！奈良に向けて出発＆公演、明後日の日曜日は和歌山公演です。どちらもとても楽しみにしています。

そして来週には東京に戻り、原宿VACANTと吉祥寺キチム２カ所での展示。
VACANTでは以前ここでもお伝えしたように展示期間中の9/4に開催されるFoundLandにビジュアルで参加する予定です。

その次の週、吉祥寺キチム内STONEギャラリーに場所を移動させて展示は続くんですが、まだここで告知してなかった9/12のイベントの事をお知らせさせてください。

このイベントはSTONEだけでなく、キチム全体を使って行われます。今回Sheeprintと日本各地を回ってきたOneiric Caravanツアーの最終日として開催されます。
ここでは映像と音楽と物語のパフォーマンスStorytellersを、なんと トウヤマタケオさんと共にできる事になりました！
二人ともトウヤマさんの音楽が好きなので今回お会いできる＆共演できる事、とても嬉しいです。
この日のイベントは２部構成になっていて、名古屋でも参加してくれた小鳥美術館と、もちろんSheeprint！のライブも楽しんでいただけます！豪華！

京都でつかの間のリフレッシュが終わり、また怒濤のイベント＆移動の日々が訪れようとしています。頑張ります〜！

Oneiric Caravan! This is the shirt design we did for the tour~
At the moment we've only been selling them at the venues we've been performing at, but if you are interested send us an email! The shirts are currently selling for $25. Colors are mint green, yellow and light orange.

色は、下の画像でJasonが着てるミントブルーとあと２色、クリームイエローとサーモンオレンジです。（他のTシャツの画像か色見本になるようなものも近いうちここでアップします。）
しっかりとした生地を使っていて、とても素敵に仕上げていただきました。

私はイエローにしようかな…

A new animation! A very very very brief animation (30 seconds) for video site Vimeo's upcoming film festival.
We drew it just before leaving for Japan and put it together after arriving. It was a great deal of fun!

The music is by our good friend Magical Power Mako and though the clip is short we are still very happy to finally have an opportunity to work with him! Certainly we will be working together again in the future!

このビデオは秋に開催されるVimeoフィルムフェスティバル＆アワードのCM的なもので、頼まれてからかなり待ってもらったのですが、昨日完成し、名古屋に旅立とうとする朝、やっと公開する事ができましたー！
今回の音楽はマジカルパワーマコさんですーー！ありがとー、マコさん！やっとできたよ〜。

いよいよ明日から、関西ツアーの開始です。
名古屋・大阪・京都・奈良・和歌山のみなさんにお会いできる事、楽しみにしています！

ちなみにSheeprintのブログで知ったんですが、私達のデザインしたこのフライヤー、３匹の羊（sheeprtint）と今回の展示「moonhare」に出てくるウサギ＆巨人（overture）が、今回のOneiric Caravanの５人を表してるものだと気づかなかったようです…そうなんですよ〜！（sheeprintは３人以上編成の時もあります。）

Oneiric Caravan in 九州/KYUSHYU

Oneiric Caravan is finally under way! Currently we are taking a short break back in Tokyo between the Kyushu leg and Kansai leg of the trip and wanted to give a quick summary of our first two shows.

First off, the folks who worked with us in Kyushu (producer wood/water records Ishii-san and everyone else) were incredibly hospitable and kind, putting five of us (Overture and Sheeprint) up every night and driving us and all of our luggage all over the island from houses to venues to dinner to train stations and so on. We look forward to spending time with them in the future!

The first show was in Hita, roughly halfway between Beppu and Fukuoka, at Liberte, a small cinema run by Hara-san and his partner. It is a beautiful cinema with a large lobby and small gallery space and they screen a wide variety of films. Although located in an out-of-the-way town it has forever altered my desired travel route for entering and leaving Beppu.

The performance was a mercifully soft start as the mask making and Storytellers was advertised for children. And though we never considered the performance for children the whole experience was somehow a great success, the children really getting into making their own masks and surprisingly enjoying our storytelling and animations.
The mask making and screening was in the afternoon and then in the evening Sheeprint played at the front of the theater and we drew in response to their music, using a video camera and projector to display what we were doing on the screen behind the band. This too was more of a success than we had considered and we look forward to doing something similar in Nagoya and also in Osaka.
Still, there is much to change and we are learning with every performance.

The following evening, after a long car ride, some excellent pastries and a bath in a mountainside onsen, we were in Fukuoka, performing Storytellers with Sheeprint in a show with other bands. The members of these other bands, Autumn Leaf and Awamok, were a friendly and boisterous group of guys very interested in creating a more mutually supportive artist and community environment in Fukuoka, and they treated us like old friends.
As for the performance, Storytellers with Sheeprint backing all went very well and we can't wait for the next opportunity (Sat.)!

All in all it was an amazing experience and we'll definitely be making our way back down to see these folks again in the not-too-distant future.

Oneiric Caravanツアーの九州公演、日田・福岡とも無事終了しました！
(今回佐賀が中止になったのは残念でしたが、また次の機会に！)

まず全公演の初日（８/13）である日田。
ここは日田シネマテーク・リベルテという、とっても素敵な映画館＆カフェでの開催でした。

昼の部は、親子でのマスク（仮面）作りワークショップ＆Storytellers日田・キッズバージョン（物語を、少しシンプルにわかりやすくしたものです）。
このワークショップ、自由度全開の子供たちの創作意欲が爆発する中、overture&sheeprintのメンバーをはじめとする大人たちもそれに負けじと作り、本当に良い時間をすごすことができました。
どの子もすごい集中力で仮面を作り、その後の上映では力尽きて倒れてる子も（笑）それだけ真剣にやってくれてうれしいです！
マスクをつけたままでスクリーンをじっと見つめてたみんなの顔、写真には撮れてないけど脳裏に焼きついていますよー！

夜の部は、sheeprintのライブ。overtureはライブドローイングで参加しました。
このライブは贅沢にも映画館のスクリーンにドローイングの様子を映し出すというもので、なかなかできない経験をさせてもらいました。

そして次の日８/１４の福岡公演は、薬院のspace IDEという美容室の2階にあるイベントスペースで開催されました。「Moon Hare」の展示作品のなかから数点、壁面に展示もしました。
ここでは、STORYTELLERSと、sheeprintのライブ中には作品のスライドショーを流したりしました。
Awamokのみなさん、Autumn Leafのみなさん、とても楽しい方たちでした。また会いましょう！

そしてこの九州公演を成功に導いてくれたwood/water recordsのスタッフのみなさん、どうもありがとうございました！

First:
Our MoonHare exhibition at Gallery Blue Ballen wrapped up last Friday and we wanted to thank Ura-san, Tomoko-san, Hirakawa-san and everyone who came out to Yufuin to see the show! It was a wonderful success and will surely prove to be a seed for future projects in Oita-ken.

Second:
Another festival announcement! This time it's the KLIK! festival in Amsterdam, September 15-19th. I thought we had written on this earlier as it was decided a while ago - but they only just recently uploaded the schedule so maybe we had been waiting on that.
We will be screening Bless at the festival in the Commissioned Animation Competition.
We have never screened in Amsterdam and the KLIK! lineup looks really great! Should be a fantastic festival!

◉湯布院ブルーバレンでの個展「MoonHare」が先週の金曜日に終了しました。
ギャラリーの裏さん、トモコさん、平川さん、そして展示と25日にイベントに来てくださった全ての皆様、どうもありがとうございました！
また大分県で展示やイベントができる事、楽しみにしています。

◉もうひとつ上映が決まりました！
9/15〜9/19の間、オランダ・アムステルダムで開催されるKLIK!映画祭です。
以前少しだけこの映画祭の事について書いたような気もしますが、スケジュールが新しくアップされていたので改めてお知らせします。
上映されるのはBLESSで、 コミッションアニメーションコンペティションという部門で選ばれました。
アムステルダム、そしてオランダでの作品上映は初めてです。

FANTOCHE

Switzerland! Just a quick note that BLESS is screening in the Swiss animation festival, FANTOCHE this September! It will screen in the Animated Music Clips section along with a selection of incredible and intimidating videos. We are very excited!

9月7日から9月12日の６日間、スイス・バーデンで開催される、ファントーシュ国際アニメーション映画祭で、私達のビデオ”BLESS”が上映される事が決まりました！
上映されるのは、アニメーションミュージックビデオ部門です。
国際的な映画祭で、2010年のアニメーションミュージックビデオのセレクションの一本に自分たちの作品が選ばれる事、とても嬉しいです。

FOUNDLAND

Ok, as mentioned earlier, in addition to the two short exhibitions we will have in Tokyo there will also be a visual/musical event at each venue. For the venue in Harajuku, VACANT, there will be FOUNDLAND, the first in a recurring (monthly maybe?) series of events organized/produced by flau and NO IDEA.
This event is going to be pretty darn great. A lot of amazing musicians and we will be doing some kind of live projected artwork along with each musical set.
