On Friday, 11/15 we had the pleasure and honor of screening Shrine Islands with a group of talented and accomplished animators at NYU Tisch.
It was a diverse group of styles and interests! We rarely get a chance to spend time with other animators so it was a very positive experience for us.
We are grateful to Birgit Rathsmann and David Britton for thinking of us and inviting us to participate!
Our animation, HAKKORI was fortunate enough to screen during the festival as part of the Psychedelic Midnight Mix at the Babylon theater. It was a very warm and receptive crowd! Kidkanevil came out for our talk and screening and it was great to finally meet in person and eat some popcorn together! There were also parties and other activities that begin to blur into dreamy memory but a lot of lovely people were there including Pictoplasma’s own Peter and Lars. We will treasure these moments, however hazy!
ベルリンで開催されるキャラクターデザインを中心としたフェスティバル/カンファレンス、ピクトプラズマに「HAKKORI」が選ばれ上映されることになり、さらにアーティストトークをする事も追加で決まり、急遽ベルリンに向かうことになりました。その様子をいくつかに分けてここで紹介します。こちらはその２です！
ベルリンの古いシアター・バビロンにて開催されたプログラム「サイケデリック・ミッドナイトミックス」でのHAKKORI上映。shrine islandシリーズでコラボしたばかりのベルリン在住の音楽家、kidkanevilさんがトークに続いてこちらにも来てくれました。それにしても、コラボの作品リリース直後にたまたま彼のいるベルリンで開催されるイベントでの上映とトークが決まり、初めて実物に会える偶然！また何か一緒にやれたらいいね、と話しました。
そしてフェスティバルといえばパーティー。夜の道を会場を探して歩いて、辿り着いたのは暗い夜の学校のような場所。（全然学校じゃないんだけどこの時はそう感じました）テクノがかかる中謎に奢られて飲んで、たくさんの人がトーク聞いたよ、上映見たよ、と話しかけてくれて（自分から聞きにいく勇気はないので嬉しかった！）薄れゆく意識の中主催のラースとピーターと肩を組んで、夜は更けていったのでした…。
We are back from our journey to Pictoplasma and can start to actually reflect on our experiences. We had the honor of speaking at the conference and got to share some of our background and process for developing animations and the characters that inhabit them. It was a blur of bright lights and fuzzy limbs! Much thanks to the Pictoplasma team and everyone who sat through our ramblings.

まずはメイン会場で行われたカンファレンスでのトーク、たくさんの方に来てもらえてほんっとうに緊張しましたが、顔に当たる強いライトでほとんど客席が見えなくてそれのおかげでなんとかお話できました。（事前にスタッフの方にもいろんな緊張ほぐしの声かけをいただきました。ありがたや…）今回はキャラクターデザインのコンファレンスなので、ただ今までの作品を紹介する事よりも、最新作のキャラクターメイキングや普段2人が作る際のプロセス、裏側を多めに見てもらえるような構成でした。
トーク後のQ&Aでもいろんな方に質問をいただきました。個人的なことから、壮大な質問までいろいろでした。

Super excited to announce HAKKORI will screen at Pictoplasma’s animation festival this May in Berlin! It’s a lovely festival and we are psyched to be returning after over ten years.
We first screened at Pictoplasma in 2009 with Bryum & Kapok and then again in 2010 with BLESS. We also participated in a large group exhibition, Post Digital Monsters, in Paris with them in 2011 followed by the work being added to a book they published in the following year.

HAKKORI is playing in a group show at Landmark College Fine Arts Gallery 02/18 - 05/14! The show is called Rapt Attentions and the other participating artists are Robbie Heidinger, Colleen Keough, Lydia M Kinney, Joan O’Beirne and Michael Smoot.
Open Weekdays 9-6, Weekends 10-6.
隣のバーモント州のランドマーク大学のファインアートギャラリーで2/18から5/14の間に開催されるグループ展「Rapt Attentions」に参加しています。この大学は自閉症・学習障害、注意欠陥の診断を持つ学生に特化した学校だそうです。会場ではハッコリを上映する事にしました。沢山の学生さんに見てもらえてたら嬉しいです！（外部の方もワクチン接種&マスク必須で見てもらえます）
Fearless Woman, our animation for Pat Robitaille is screening at Anibar International Animation Festival next month(7/23-7/30)!
コソボで来月(7/23-7/30)開催される国際アニメーション映画祭Anibarのアニメーテッドミュージックビデオ部門にて「Fearless Woman」が上映されます。
We are returning to our local independent theater, Amherst Cinema, starting Friday 11/20 in their Virtual Theater for a screening of recent work: Dreams for the Living, a Selection of Opertura Animations.
On Tuesday the 24th we will also be doing a live Q&A at 7pm.
In 2016 we curated a screening event, Drawn Together, at Amherst Cinema with animator, Jo Dery. We screened a number of contemporary animators work and another animator, Jake Fried, joined us as a special guest. It was a wonderful experience and we are very happy to be collaborating with the cinema again.
時間は吹っ飛んで、１１月ですね。こちらは先日初雪でした。
11/20より映画館Amherst Cinemaが主催する、家で楽しむバーチャルシネマのプログラムにて私達の最新の作品を含めたソロ短編集プログラム『Dreams For the Living』が上映されることになりました。
この映画館では２０１６年に『Drawn Together』というイベントで短編アニメーションの上映プログラムをキュレートさせてもらいました。この時は私達と友人のアニメーション作家Jo Deryの３人で選んだ世界のいろんな短編作家の作品集でしたが、今回は私達の映像のみのソロプログラムです。
お客さんとしてもよく利用している素敵な映画館です。11/24にオンラインでのQ&Aも開催されるということで楽しみにしています！

Here's our animation, Coast, live scored by Ale last Saturday at Echo Park Film Center. It is a lovely balearic track that fits perfectly with the visuals and really started the evening off nicely! We are extremely grateful!
先日のエコパークフィルムセンターでのイベントでライブスコアリングしてくれたAleの音をつけた「Coast」の映像をVimeoにアップしました。最近二人もよく聴いているバラリックな雰囲気のある音にしてくれました。彼はドローイング遊びの間の音も自然な感じで流してくれて感謝感謝！また何か一緒にできたら嬉しいです。

Growing up I spent a lot of time at GCC and Aya took classes there when we first moved here from Japan so it is quite nice to have an opportunity to come back to it like this.

９／２９（月）の１２：３０から、私たちが以前暮らしていた町、グリーンフィールドのコミュニティカレッジでトーク＆上映を行います。この学校、私（アヤ）が６年近く前にESL(英語クラス)に通ってた事がありましたし、ジェイソンもクラスこそとってないですが子供の頃に何度も来たことがある場所です。全然別のつながりでこんな形でここにまた戻って来れてとても不思議な気分です。上記の画像は学校イの人が作ってくれたポスターです:)
この辺で大きなスクリーンで私たちのアニメーションを見る機会はなかなかないし入場無料のイベントです。パイオニアヴァレー近郊の人は、ぜひ立ち寄ってみてくださいね。

Ludic Chase is getting the live-score treatment again!
With Josef Lincoln again!
November 1st, 7:30 PM at The Academy of Music, Northampton, MA
This time it will be part of Live Art Magazine, the first issue of a local art and music 'magazine' event. The idea is that works performed, screened, read, etc. are one-time, with no recording devices permitted. Ludic Chase is available online for viewing (two versions even!), but the experience of it with Josef's live music is unique to the evening. There are many other amazing participants, including Pulitzer prize winner, James Tate and Double Edge Theater's Matthew Glassman.
It should be a very interesting and vari ed event! Tickets are $10 and can be purchased through the theater's site.
Ludic Chaseがこの秋にもう一度ライブスコアリングしてもらえることになりました。とっても素敵＆大きな会場で、そして相手はJosef Lincolnアゲイン！ ノースハンプトンの中心部にある歴史ある劇場 The Academy of Musicにて、１１月１日の夜７時半から開演のイベントLive Art Magazineにて再コラボさせてもらいます。
このイベント、ライブや上映やパフォーマンスをまるで月購読のマガジンのように毎月見せていくという趣旨で、今回はその記念すべき第一回目です。（わたしたち、何かの”第一回”に参加する経験がほんとに多いです）録音／撮影一切禁止で、ここでしか見れないものを見せるという事で、Ludic Chase自体はオンラインで見る事ができる (しかも２パターンも!)のですが、ジョセフのその場での演奏で、一度きりのパフォーマンスとして前回見た方にも楽しんでもらえるものになると思います。
他の出演の方も、ピューリッツァー賞受賞のJames Tateさん、劇団Double Edge Theater主宰のMatthew Glassmanさんなど、興味深いです。お客さんとして見に行くの自体が楽しみ！ チケットは$10で劇場サイトで購入できます。

Halfway is screening at the Rassegna di Cinema Giapponese 2013 film festival in Florence, Italy May 22-25. It will screen with three other films representing the Sapporo Short Film Festival.
It is a great honor to be chosen to screen with these few great films and represent such a wonderful festival.
The screenings will be held in an old palace, Palazzo dello Strozzino, part of which is now a theatre (see the photo at the bottom of the post).

イタリア・フィレンツェで5/22〜25に開催されるフィレンツェ日本映画祭にて「Halfway」が上映される事が決まりました。
上映されるのは札幌国際短編映画祭コラボレーションでセレクトされた短編映像のプログラムで、選ばれたのは私達の作品を含めて４本。

この少ない上映作品の仲間に入れてとても嬉しいです。そしてフィルムリストのページではHalfwayの画像を使ってくださっています！短編はそれぞれ、会期中に上映される長編の前に上映されるそうです。
上映される会場「チネマ・オデオン」は15世紀半ばの宮殿の内部をシアターに改造したもので、とても美しいです。（下の写真です）いつか行ってみたいものです。
